Cairo in general is not for the faint-hearted but exciting all the same. If anything, avoid the Khan El-Khalili market. It is a tourist trap and can be extremely stressful with many stall holders literally grabbing you for your trade. Beware - there are no bargains and a limited range of products. Also, unless you enjoy shopping in a sterile, confusing environment with half the shops closed and the rest selling items at designer prices, avoid the Citystars mall like the plague!

All members of staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is rated 5 star - for Egypt. This does not compare to 5 star you would expect in Europe or the US. However, that said, although there were some areas around the hotel that were tired and in need of some attention (e.g. bathrooms), the hotel was comfortable, welcoming and enjoyable.

Be aware of 12% service charge and 10% sales tax on top of all purchased items, inlcuding food. Plus, any items charged to the room (including minibar) will have a 2% city tax put on top. Also, cashiers throughout the hotel had a habit of "rounding up" to the next Egyptian Pound (i.e. if a bill came to E£9.05, expect to challenge them when they take E£10!!).

Hotel is located close to main road systems. There is a dual carriageway (both directions) right outside the hotel and a mini motorway close by that runs between airport and central Cairo. There were no places to walk to and enjoy - just traffic, but taxis were easily accessible to travel to other areas. Expect to travel at least 30 mins to anywhere of interest.

clean good quality and variety breakfast good reception staff

we decided to have dinner one day but disappointed with quality and high price. not again catering breakfast staff looked a bit dejected. make you feel unwelcomed. you have to ask many times to serve you tea. though they were good in cleaning the tables quickly. I had my hair cut the standard was below expected. I paid 70EG which is very high price in Egypt. We have to change our what is ment to be superior to another. The aircondition control was not working properly and the TV was fuzzy.

Were misled by website as only booked in as understood there was a complimentary shuttle, when booked and paid found out that that is not so, only if booked direct. With cab fare from airport it would be better for us to book a nearer hotel in future.

Restaurants very good, pool area very good.

Night of 31 May, room given was VERY dirty, bathroom floor had never been washed, only there for 5 hrs and too tired to change. Night of 7 June, given 'upgrade' room (611) because of dirtiness of previous room, opening night of pool and was VERY noisy, had to get up at 0500hrs !!! reception had said we would get a complimentary shuttle to airport in morning but it was then rescinded in morning, gave Bell Captain money for cab which included cab drivers tip, he kept it all and we had to retrieve it from him !!!!
