Hotel Paris Est Lafayette

Lamentablemente no puedo aportar como positivo nada más que el hecho de estar bien comunicado.

Sinceramente desaconsejable en todos los sentidos. Estuvimos en cuatro habitaciones con la familia (9 pax). Habíamos encargado tres triples pero finalmente nos tuvieron que ubicar en tres dobles y una triple (¿?) en la que a dos camas añadieron un camastro cubierto con una manta cochambrosa que parecía recogida de un vertedero. A nuestra queja su respuesta fue que ese es el tipo de habitación triple que tienen. Comentar que en dos de las habitaciones las manetas se nos quedaron tres o cuatro veces en la mano, el teléfono entre habitaciones no funcionaba y que todas ellas daban a un patio interior lleno de porquería, colillas, y desechos. El ascensor (para 2 pax) a horas de movimiento desespera al más paciente. Cuando llegamos por la mañana dejamos las maletas en una habitación porque el resto no estaban disponibles y para sorpresa nuestra nos encontramos a nuestro regreso que la puerta de la habitación no se abría de ninguna forma con la tarjeta magnética. Vino el recepcionista y tras 40 minutos de intentos tuvo que abrirnos con la llave maestra y para que abriésemos nos hizo entrega de dos tarjetas magnéticas maestras que abrían todas las habitaciones (nos debió ver cara de buena gente...). Y aquí viene lo sorprendente cuando accedemos a la habitación, las maletas se encontraban en disposición diferente a como las habíamos dejado y había desaparecido un IPOD TOUCH de uno de los bolsillos de la maleta en el que lo habíamos dejado. guardado (craso error). Cuando nos quejamos al recepcionista me contesta muy ofendido que estaba poniendo en duda la honorabilidad del hotel y que debía estar equivocado y que lo habría perdido pero que ni él ni sus compañeros habían tocado nada (como si yo hubiese acusado a alguno de ellos). La respuesta por mi parte fue clara: le habrán dejado otra llave maestra (nos enseñó más de una docena) a algún cliente amante de lo ajeno. A partir de aquí fue como hablar con una pared. La única solución por su parte: presentar una reclamación por escrito. Mi opción: denunciar en foros como éste la falta de fiabilidad de este hotel que por otra parte no se corresponde de ninguna manera con la catalogación de tres estrellas que tiene. Respecto a la zona, es cierto que está bien comunicada pero no es recomendable a partir de ciertas horas porque al margen de no haber nada de nada abierto, es solitaria y tienes sensación de inseguridad. En resumen y para terminar: ESCOJAN OTRO HOTEL PORQUE EN ESTE NO ENCONTRARÁN LO QUE CONTRATARON Y PARA MÍ LA DESCONFIANZA GENERADA ES TOTAL.

Reformado hace poco, la habitación, aunque un poco pequeña, es acogedora y el baño es correcto.

El desayuno un poco justo, falta algo de fruta y/o zumos naturales y no hay nada de embutido ni nada caliente

Lo más cercano a visitar (se puede ir andando en un agradable paseo) es Montmatre. Por lo demás, muy bien situado a nivel de comunicaciones (Gare du Nord i Gare de l'Est muy cerca y metro también)

Food could have been better and having to decided your morning breakfast time for all days for the stay up front was a little annoying but that is the worse thing I can say

Hotel bien situé, dans une petite rue au calme proche gare nord et gare de l'est. La chambre quadruple du sixième étage était calme et spacieuse. La salle de bain était propre.

We appreciated the comments from other reviews regarding the signage for the hotel. Had we not read that the Paris Est Lafayette is not the predominant sign we may have missed it. Look at pictures of the hotel and get familiar with what it looks like before arriving.

We enjoyed the hotel and it's amenities. The breakfast was the typical French spread and was thoroughly enjoyed. There was no pressure from the staff for us to hurry through our meal and there were plenty of tables available for all guests to enjoy their morning in Paris. The croissants were great and the automatic cafe au lait/cappuccino/coffee machine was appreciated by all we observed. The room was very comfortable and a fair size for Paris and even the size of the hotel. We even joked the hotel (and it seems Paris) is not meant for large people (narrow halls, elevator the size of a match box, toilet positioned real close to the wall, narrow tub.) Thankfully we are not big people. The staff were excellent and communicating was not an issue. Their excellent english compensated for our novice french. There were many great places to eat nearby and a very convenient (and often used) market and grocery store.

There is nothing negative to report about the hotel. The area immediately adjacent to the hotel seemed okay, but at night it had a "not so safe" feeling. There were some people that did not give a good vibe to the area. Being within close proximity to the Gare du Nord may have some influence where there were always groups of people appearing to be up no good. We witnessed the same "fishy looking characters" hanging around the station day after day....why?

We recommend anybody staying here to take good shoes and walk. If you take the metros all the time you are going to miss the essence of the city. We only took the metros when there was a destination far away we wanted to get directly to or if time was a concern. Whilst walking we observed the daily bustle of Paris, the well dressed people, sites, sounds, and smells. Places to eat on every corner and delicious bagettes whenever you fancied. We also recommend to head south from the hotel, that is where the magic is.
