Descripción del hotel Parador de Monforte
Situated at the highest point of the town of Monforte de Lemos is the San Vicente do Pino monumental complex, comprised of the keep, the San Vicente do Pino Monastery and the Condes de Lemos Palace; the latter two house the hotel's facilities. The origins of the monastery date back to the 9th century, although the current building, erected on the site of an earlier one, is Neoclassical and dates to the 17th century. The 16th century Condes de Lemos Palace, located opposite the monastery, was damaged by fire and then restored in the 18th century. The original doorway, with the shields of Lemos and the Castro y Osorio and Enriquez families, has been conserved. Today, the palace houses the hotel's magnificent function rooms and dining rooms. The monastery building contains a central Neoclassical cloister built from finely-worked stone; it is the monument's most interesting area in terms of architecture, with an intelligent layout of slopes and curved channels in the central flooring that were used to collect rain water, which was then stored in a cistern beneath the floor tiles. The monastery has been restored and converted into an air-conditioned hotel with 50 rooms distributed around the central cloister. There is also an annex building called the 'Casa del Monte Fuerte', with a capacity for 100 guests. In addition to the standard hotel services such as a restaurant, café and function rooms, the hotel also features Internet access (fees apply) and a car park. The Condes de Lemos Palace houses the convention and banquet rooms. Further facilities include a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services, a hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, lift access, a TV lounge and a bar. Room and laundry services and a parking garage are also offered for additional fees.

All the rooms have windows over the Lemos Valley and each one features an en suite bathroom with bathtub and hairdryer, a TV, Internet access, a safe and minibar, air conditioning and central heating.

There is an outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers and parasols laid out ready for use, and guests may also work out in the gym, relax in the hot tub or stroll around the gardens. Activities available for additional fees include catamaran boating, canoeing, archery, horse riding and biking. Monforte de Lemos golf course is approximately 1 km from the hotel (fees apply).

Hunting and fishing are two common activities in the region. As a result, guests can enjoy excellent trout, elvers (baby eels), and game such as roe deer or hare. Other regional specialties include dishes such as pork shoulder with turnip tops and chorizo sausage; savory empanada pies, zorza, and octopus seasoned with olive oil and paprika. A breakfast buffet is served each morning and set menu and à la carte options are available for lunch and dinner.
Ubicación Parador de Monforte
The historical hotel is located on San Vicente hill in the town of Monforte, 60 km from the walled city of Lugo. Its main access road is the A 6 motorway, taking the N 120 exit toward Monforte-Ourense near Ponferrada. Monforte is located 110 km from the town of Ponferrada, and the closest cities are Ourense (40 km), Lugo (60 km) and Santiago (117 km). Guests will find restaurants, bars, nightlife and bus and train station in Monforte, while Ourense and its many shops is a half-hour drive away. The beach in Vigo is approximately a 90-minute drive from the hotel. The Mother Clarisas convent and mediaeval bridge are just 300 metres from the hotel and the Sil canyons are half an hour's drive away.
