If you are looking to see small town Cuba, Remedios is one of the cleanest and friendliest I have encountered so far.
I couldn't ask for more. This is the second time I have stayed at the Mascotte and I was pleased with the accommodations
both times. As it is small (only ten rooms) it is a good plan to book well in advance. It's central location is great.
The town itself is very laid back and a nice change of pace from busy Santa Clara. If you want to see the cays and don't
want to stay in a resort, this would be a great option.
The safe didn't work, but I didn't bother to ask for it to be fixed either.
If you are in Cuba over Christmas the Remedios parrandas on Dec 24th should not be missed. If you book early enough at the
Mascotte, your balcony will overlook all the action. During the rest of the year there are a few museums in town. Don't be
fooled by the outside appearance of the church, it is worth a look inside. Cayo Santa Maria is fairly close by car, as is
the malecon in Caibarien and the city of Santa Clara.
