City Hotel Matyas

Gerbaud Cafe/restaurant excellent, as was the Jazz Garden restaurant.St Stevens Baslica lovely venue, especially for a concert, and lovely views from the Castle area. Metro and trams easy to use, but remember to validate tickets as inspectors patrol round undercover, and fines of 12000 HUF each are not much fun. The flea market in the Park on Sundays is fun. All very friendly.

Very good location, near to the metro and bus services, and just yards away from the Vaci Utca and the Danube. Hotel staff helpful. Rooms clean, although fairly standard - good value.

No hairdryers, internet access or air conditioning in room - was OK in early June, but would have been less bearable in mid-summer. Limited lounge facilities.

Market Hall, Vaci Utca, numerous restaurants and cafe's within easy walking distances. Gellart Hotel Baths and a lot of the Pest area very accessible on foot

visit bookshops in Vaci Utca which sell English language books take the No 2 tram along the promenade take no 7 bus to the Gellert baths

Good but basic hotel, don't be put off by first appearances. Excellent location.

Generally an good place to stay providing you have a room in the annexe. The other hotel areas are dark and dingy with staircase areas badly in need of decoration. The reception area and dining/breakfast areas are acceptable.Location is excellent for central Budapest and shopping. The external facade and entrance to the hotel is not very welcoming but staff are generally cheerful and helpful.This was my second stay at this hotel and I would return providing as previously stated a room was available in the annexe.

Hotel is really well situated for exploring all of Budapest without any need whatsoever to look at public transport. All amenities and tourist sites are within very easy walking distance.

Enjoyed our stay very much, this hotel is central within walking distance to all the major sights of the city. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice veiw of the Danube.

Everything was ok except that the room and the way up and down to the room were very cold (all doors always opened in the stairs and no possibility to close them - i tried to but...). I evaluate 4 cause it lets the possibility open to do even better... but it was a very good choice. Sure, next time, if i come alone (means if i may choose alone), i'll choose the same hotel.
