Hotel with character. Good location for visiting the centre of the city's sights. Nice breakfast with a local produce corner.

Walls are very thin. Our room was facing the entrance patio so we could hear each guest walking in. We arrived late so we were checked-in by the porter whose information about the hotel facilities was a bit poor (eg we didn't know there was a pc for guests to use internet until we departed).

Free tea and coffee a nice touch. Breakfast included. Friendly staff. Beautiful building. Choice of pillows on request.

Not the best of areas if you come in from the North. Air con struggled a bit to keep the room cool.

    Alhambra. Close to bars, restaurants.

A visit to the Alhambra is everything and more that you have heard. Allow at least a day to see it all. Remember to book tickets in advance of your stay as this will save lots of time with queuing. Check the time for getting into the Nazeri Palace as you will have a particular time slot and there will be no negotiating this.

The staff were friendly and helpful and willing to assist in any way. We particularly enjoyed the architecture inside the building which was a pleasing surprise and completely different to what we expected. There were geraniums set out in large pots inside where you could sit and listen to the sound of running water from a nearby feature.

We were disappointed that the room we had was very dark. Although there were two small windows the glass was so thick that we had to have lights on the whole time. The furniture was also a very dark wood and this did not help. The shower also took a while to figure out as you had to take a considerable time to adjust the heat whilst holding the shower head in your hand as there was no where to fix the shower head above you. We never did understand how to work the jacuzzi. Don't be put off by the narrow alley you have to walk through to get to the front door of the hotel. Once inside you will be amazed. Remember to ring the doorbell to be let inside the hotel. Finally there were no fire drill signs which is not usually a problem but caused a bit of concern when we were woken at 3 in the morning due to a power failure and realised that there was no obvious way out of the hotel. Do not use this hotel if you have problems with stairs. The hotel is on lots of different levels as you move through and would be impossible for someone with mobility problems.

The great thing about this hotel is its situation. It is below the Alhambra, next to the Plaza Nueva and on route to the Sacromonte. More importantly it is on the edge of the Albaycin where you can walk for hours in the small streets and alleyways. Our legs are still pleasantly sore from the hill walking we did over the 3 days. There are specatcular views to be had from almost any direction. Seeing snow on the Sierra Nevada mountains through the hills was spectacular. We have now been to Granada in August and February. A winter visit is much more preferable.
