The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist dates back to 1324 and is a remarkable building that has been declared a national monument. In 1276 King James II of Mallorca made Perpignan the capital of that kingdom and began work on the Palace of the Kings of Mallorca. This impressive stronghold was built in the Gothic style and possesses two chapels: the Queen’s Chapel in the lower part, and the Sacred Chapel, with its door of beautiful pink marble in the upper floor. Visit the Musée de l’Aviation. Created in 1976, it is a lovely walk amongst airplanes, models and original aeronautical parts.
